I have always been fascinated and awed by the ease with which people come up with interesting names for their blogs. Here are links to blogs of two dear friends who I find especially good at this stuff (though in one case the details on the flying can be a bit tiresome and I really wish he would focus on something more 'accessible')

That brings me to the name of my blog - 'The cloud that thunders'. For lack of better ideas, I went down memory lane and thought about times when something or someone captured my imagination. My first experience of Victoria Falls (One of the largest waterfalls in the world by some measures) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Falls as an 8 year old was right on top of that list.
That was many many years ago, but I still remembered the local name for this magnificent natural wonder 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' - the cloud/smoke that thunders (I have got different translations for it depending on where on the Internet I go).
Someday, I hope to be back there with my family and experience it again. I am quite sure that it will not be as magnificent as I remember - things are rarely as big as they seem when you are a child, but would be well worth it if it captures my kids' imaginations as it did mine. Or maybe it will turn out to be the classic movie plot of a pushy dad taking reluctant kids to this magnificent thing they remember only to realize that it was something quite ridiculous...
Oh well....this was a rather long winded route to explaining the name of my blog, in case anyone was wondering.

Hello there!
In the unlikely event that someone actually shows up here, I do apologize for wasting the few mouse clicks it might take for you to return to where you got diverted.
I am inspired by friends who have created their own blogs and seem to be doing rather well. By that I don't mean traffic but rather the content, some of which is unsusually interesting, original and provocative and the rest a cheap substitute for lengthy chats over a nice drink late into the night (which would require considerable amounts of money and time to arrange).
Sadly, inspiration is not quite enough.....one also needs skills at writing, an opinion to write about and a sense of humor to really juice it up.
I might find all of those an more in me someday. Till then I will be happy with commenting on other blogs.
Thanks for visiting.
